Not Resolutions
I’m opposed to New Year’s Resolutions. I believe that if there is something that you want to change or improve, you should being working on it right away instead of waiting for some future day. That said, the changing of the year does provide a valuable benchmarking opportunity. It is easier to mark time and reflect by year than any other arbitrary date. By all accounts, 2010 was a...

Be Thankful I'm Back on tumblr
On this, my 24th Thanksgiving, I have realized that I am thankful for many things in life. Of them all, however, the one that stands out is hip hop collaborations. At least that’s what I told myself when I sat down at my tv tonight. Dinner was done, the family was in bed, I was beer & wined up. Perfect time to toss on Fuse’s Top 20 Hip Hop Collaborations. I kept a running diary of...

So I’m not going to be able to make it to Lolla this year, but I took a look at the recently released lineup and decide that this would probably be my schedule if I was going. This of course doesn’t account for the inevitable drinking, waiting in food/bathroom lines, and wandering around early in the day to check out unknown bands (which is one of the best parts). It also doesn’t...

– Anyone who knows more about baseball than I do—I keep hearing about how Bud Selig could overturn this call. How real is this possibility? (via kquizzo) Technically, as commissioner Selig can do most anything he wants, but he shouldn’t (and most likely won’t) do anything. Making an...

Reblogged by kquizzo Their review of SATC2 is unfavorable, and they make many good points about why the movie is flat out dumb. But in the introduction to the review, they talk about this: It makes for an interesting read and interesting thinking. I find their comments about the assumption in several reviews that a woman who has any desire to see SATC2 must be “vapid and shallow” to ring true....

It may sound cliche, but Wake Forest is an incredibly tight knit community. Through the power of the internet, a few thousand alums, students, and fans communicate with each other at all hours of the day on all imaginable topics. This family knows each other, shares our stories, laughs together, yells at each other, and on occasion cries together. Less than a month ago, an alum from the class of...

kquizzo: Tom, I’m confused. There are schools on that list not in Chicago. Astute observation. You can blame the lack of Chicago-area schools that offer joint degrees of a MBA & also a M. Public Administration or Public Policy. Northwestern & UChicago are easily my top two choices, though.

8 Best Fictional Presidents
8. President Baxter Harris - Scary Movie 3 - A very guilty pleasure of mine, this movie deserves a lot more credit than it gets. A definite step above the rest of the Scary Movie franchise. 7. President Tom Beck - Deep Impact - Americans would be so mesmerized by Morgan Freeman’s voice that we would unanimously agree with every stance he takes. 6. President James Dale - Mars Attacks!...
