Or another tactic: aren’t you feeling rewarded by seeing all the people, things, and situations that you’ve noticed from previous seasons crop up in different ways and iterations?

 I am assuming (hoping) that they will, but right now it seems like nothing more than filler. There are so many unanswered questions that I’d rather just keep the focus on the island. If it all gets tossed together I’ll eat my words, and I understand it’s only two episodes in, but right now it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere.

To your second point, I do find it amusing to see the connections between the past seasons and the off-island plot. But, like I said, to me it takes away from the the storyline that I am so invested in. So amusing but distracting - basically the story of my existence.
